About Me
Hi, I’m Mitchell Krapfl and I love design.
I’m an all around graphic designer who does everything from pushing pixels to traditional print media. If there is one thing I’ve learned from my time as a designer it’s that I love making things but I’m obsessed with making things better. The power that design has over our daily lives is something that I do not take lightly. I strive to touch every base, every time. Attention to detail can make all the difference and there is too much bad design out there to not care.

How I Started
I started my design “practice” at a very early age, around fourth grade I believe. I had an issue that interfered with my daily schedule of sandbox playing and rock throwing. My extended family members had a habit of coming over to visit and mingle for whatever reason, thus interrupting my daily routine. They would always ask the same questions when they saw me. “What have you been up to?” and “Have you been staying out of trouble?”
Absolutely unacceptable.
I knew I couldn’t let this continue. So I had a an idea, the Krapfl Weekly. A Print publication that (for a small fee of course) would be mailed to subscribers detailing my weekly exploits and interesting tidbits of my family life. It even had a comic made from collaged Calvin and Hobbes characters that made no sense. AKA the perfect solution to my problem.
My parents were thrilled despite my limited target audience. I was starting a small business and learning to write and they were convinced I was destined to be an author. But as soon as I got to work on the first copy I discovered something else: design. The layout had to be perfect, the comic beautifully rendered, and the way I held my pen while hand-writing the stories had to remain consistent so everything would look the same. I probably spent twice as much time on the single page layout as I did on the content. At the time I had no idea what I was doing, but I was hooked.
